John Manson '79 has been President and CEO of the family business, GM Mortgage & Realty Co., Inc. since 1995. GM Mortgage is actively providing services in California, Arizona, and Colorado and has produced over $1 billion dollars and rising. After graduating from the University of San Diego, John co-owned one of the largest independently owned athletic clubs in San Diego County for nearly 20 years. John's natural ability to develop relationships within the fitness industry led him to manage North County Sports & Rehabilitation Center, and own and develop an innovative data processing company providing electronic funds transfers for athletic clubs across the country. In 1985, while running multiple businesses, John became a licensed agent and kicked off his now voluminous real estate career.
John is a well-respected, savvy, and successful professional who brings a "block and tackle" mentality to the bargaining table. A self-described sports fanatic, Manson was a standout defensive back at the University of San Diego. In addition to earning a B.A. in History, he merited Player of the Year honors and ultimately signed a free agent contract with the Kansas City Chiefs.
Â
John has a philanthropic heart and believes in giving back. Since graduating from USD, John continues to support the school, athletic department and football program. He is the founding committee member of the Chet and Marguerite Pagni Family Athletic Hall of Fame, has served on several athletic board committees, is currently on the TFC Leadership team and provides mentorship to recent graduates. John is also the Co-Founder, and current director, of Vigilucci's Beach Bocce World Championship, which has raised over $1.6 million for local charities since its inception in 1980.
Â
John professionally serves as the President of the Encinitas Business Exchange, supporting the community for over 25 years. He has also been a long-time member of the National Association of Mortgage Brokers, and National Association of Realtors.
Â
Married to his wife Debbi since 1981, John proudly has two daughters and five grandchildren.
