SAN DIEGO - San Diego women's basketball is set to take on LMU for its first WCC road contest on Saturday afternoon.

The contest marks the Toreros second of the week, after Thursday night's matchup at Pepperdine was postponed due to COVID-19 protocols within the Waves program.

LAST TIME OUT
• The Toreros rallied from a four-point deficit in the fourth quarter to defeat BYU at home, 58-56.

• Two players scored in double figures, led by redshirt senior Jordyn Edwards, who had 13 points, five assists and a career-high six steals. Erica Martinsen tacked on 12 points (4-for-5 from three) and two steals off the bench, and Kendall Bird added nine points.

• San Diego forced 26 BYU turnovers while committing just 15 themselves in Monday's game. The Toreros turned those takeaways into 25 points on the other end of the floor as Edwards' six steals led the way for San Diego.

• San Diego and BYU battled back-and-forth through the third, as the Toreros faced a four-point deficit to enter the fourth, 46-42.

• Martinsen led the charge as USD rallied in the game's final frame to outscore BYU 16-10. The Clarence, Ny. native came through from three, shooting a perfect 2-for-2 from beyond the arc in the period. A made free throw from Myah Pace with a minute to go and another with nine seconds on the clock from Edwards secured the 58-56 victory.

ALL-TIME SERIES AGAINST LMU
• The Toreros will look to continue their winning ways against the Lions, as USD took both games in the WCC series last season.

• This marks the 49th matchup between San Diego and LMU with the Toreros holding a 16-game advantage in the all-time series.

EDWARDS ON DEFENSE
• Edwards has been a force for San Diego both sides of the ball, but particularly on defense. The guard helps lead San Diego's full court press attack causing the Toreros to force 196 turnovers.

• Edwards leads the team in steals with 26 so far on the year and is tied with fellow senior Sydney Hunter in blocks (4).

• In the West Coast Conference, Edwards leads in total steals on the year and sits only behind Pacific's Valerie Higgins in steals per game. She's currently averaging 3.25 takeaways per game to rank 22nd in NCAA Division I.

• Edwards is tied for 10th in Division I for total steals, with no other player in the WCC emerging among the top 25 players in the country.

LEADING THE WAY
• Four starters continue to lead the way on offense for San Diego with Edwards averaging 10.6 points per game. Edwards also leads from the line shooting .786 from the charity stripe.

• Hunter, Bird and Pace round out the top scorers for San Diego averaging around 8 points each respectively.

• Off the glass, senior guard Hunter continues to lead the efforts for the Toreros with 6.3 boards per game, followed by Pace with 5.3 per game.

• Three-point shooting has become a larger part of San Diego's offensive attack this season led by Martinsen who has 14 made threes on the year.

STEAL CITY IN THE NATIONAL RANKINGS
• San Diego continues to be one of the top defenses in the country, ranking in the top 25 in four defensive categories.

• The Toreros rank in the top 10 in NCAA Division I in turnovers forced (fifth), steals per game (sixth), and steals (ninth).

• San Diego is also ranked 16th in turnover margin at 7.25 on the year.

THE HUNT FOR THE WCC CROWN
• The Toreros will look to continue their dominance in the West Coast Conference after finishing the 2019-20 regular season ranked second in the WCC. San Diego earned the triple-bye to the WCC Tournament Semi-finals for the first time in program history to knock off Pepperdine.

• San Diego then fell to Portland 64-63 in overtime in the WCC Championship and qualified for the 2020 WNIT prior to the season's cancellation in March. The postseason appearance would have marked the eighth under head coach Cindy Fisher's tenure at USD.

• The Toreros currently sit fourth in the WCC standings behind nationally-ranked Gonzaga, Portland and BYU.
