San Diego Athletics Announces Record-Breaking Torero Tuesday

SAN DIEGO – The University of San Diego Athletic Department has announced record-breaking numbers for Torero Tuesday, the university's annual giving day. USD Athletics raised a total of $305,000, the largest amount raised in history.
 
Seven teams surpassed their dollar-raised goal, including baseball, men's basketball, women's basketball, cross country/track, men's tennis, women's tennis, and volleyball.
 
The department received 845 total gifts, including 300 former scholar-athletes.
 
"What a day!" said Associate Vice President and Executive Director of Athletics Bill McGillis. "We are so grateful for the generous donors who made possible a truly Terrific Torero Tuesday.  The 845 gifts received and the $305,000+ raised from those who care so much about USD Athletics will have an immense impact on our program and scholar-athlete experience. Their investment in these young women and men supports our continued vision of Winning in the Classroom, Winning on the Playing Field and Winning in the Community."
 
For the University as a whole, more than $1.875 million was raised during the eighth annual event.
 
More than 2,700 gifts were made from generous donors around the globe during the 24-hour campaign in support of USD. The gifts received will go toward academic and extracurricular programs, athletics and scholarships.
