SAN DIEGO – In the first home fall ball game of the season, the San Diego softball program earned a 4-2 win over UC San Diego on Saturday afternoon at the USD Softball Complex.

How It Happened
- The Toreros were quick to jump on the Tritons, as Amanda Limon drew a walk and then was driven in on RBI triple by Izzy Owen to make it 1-0 at the end of the first.
- Meanwhile, starting pitcher Ashley Daugherty pitched a gem, going five scoreless innings in the circle.
- Daugherty also shined on the defensive end, making a heads up catch on a line drive at her head in the third inning.
- The strong defense continued in the fourth inning, when Shawnese Hogue-Lacy caught a runner stealing.
- Later that inning, Joecellia Roberts picked up a double and advanced to third on a flyout. That was enough for Alyssa Hernandez, who drove her home on an RBI single to make it 2-0.
- The Toreros were able to expand the lead further in the sixth inning, when KJ Hopfer and Robert both reached. Arisa Tovar extended the lead with an RBI single up the middle and Savannah Alcaron did the same to make it 4-0.
- While the Tritons got two runs back late in the seventh and eighth inning, the Toreros locked in to secure the win.
