Amir Wallace was named the PFL Defensive Player of the Week for Week 9, the Pioneer Football League announced on Sunday afternoon
.
The cornerback had a walk-off interception as San Diego downed Morehead State, 17-11, in Saturday's PFL action.
With Morehead State driving in the game's final minute, Wallace picked off a pass and returned it 38 yards to run out the clock.
It was one of three passes Wallace defended, joining a pair of pass breakups. The Fairfield, California native also had three tackles as part of a defensive effort that held Morehead State to 238 offensive yards – the fewest allowed in the PFL during Week 9.
Wallace and the rest of the Toreros are back in action next Saturday, when they travel to Clinton, South Carolina to take on Presbyterian. Kickoff at Bailey Memorial Stadium is set for 9 a.m. PST.
