SAN DIEGO - The University of San Diego women's tennis team earned the No. 17 spot in the latest Intercollegiate Tennis Association rankings.Â
After narrowly falling to #14 USC in the dual opener, the Toreros defeated both #25 Georgia Tech and #11 Cal 4-1 during ITA Kickoff Weekend.Â
Nadia Abdala earned her first win as head coach in the win over Georgia Tech. USD won the doubles points with victories at No. 1 (

Elizabeth Goldsmith) and No. 3 (
Claudia De Las Heras/
Jordyn McBride). Goldsmith then earned a quick win at No. 5 singles, 6-1, 6-2. After Georgia Tech won at No. 1, San Diego answered.Â
Abigail Desiatnikov earned a 7-5, 6-0 win over #109 Mahak Jain at No. 3, and Evans clinched the win at No. 6 with a 6-3, 6-2 margin.
On Saturday, the Toreros earned a spot in the 2023 ITA National Team Indoor Championships with the victory over Cal. For the second straight day, USD won the doubles points with victories at No. 1 (

Elizabeth Goldsmith) and No. 3 (
Claudia De Las Heras/
Jordyn McBride). Goldsmith dominated in singles once again at No. 4, defeating #93 Hannah Viller Moeller 6-1, 6-1. Evans brought USD to a 3-1 lead, winning at No. 6 by a score of 6-3, 6-2.Â
Solymar Colling clinched the match at No. 1 with a 6-4, 7-6 victory.
