SAN DIEGO – The San Diego women's soccer program has added a local talent to the new look lineup, welcoming defender
Aba Dunbar as a transfer.
A native of Coronado, Calif., Dunbar joins the program after spending the past two seasons at Notre Dame. Dunbar will have two seasons of eligibility remaining.
A defender out of Coronado High School, Dunbar spent multiple campaigns with the Irish, who reached the NCAA quarterfinals this past season and the round of 16 in her freshman season.
Dunbar brings a highly successful pedigree from her youth career in the San Diego area, where she was a member of US National Team player pool from 2015-18, the US Olympic Development pool in 2017 and a member of the U14 and U15 US Girls National Team. Dunbar was also a part of the 2019 ECNL National Championship runner-up squad with LAFC Slammers.
Dunbar becomes the 12th newcomer on the Toreros roster and the fourth transfer, joining
Lauren Tanner (Arkansas),
Lexi Zandonella-Arasa (Sonoma State) and
Olivia Stone (Vanderbilt).
The Toreros will open the 2023 regular season on Thursday, Aug. 17 at 7 p.m., hosting Stanford at Torero Stadium.
