HANOVER, NH — San Diego men's rowing rising junior Rex Bales participated in the 2024 USA's Under-23 National Team Sweep Selection Camp, held at Dartmouth College this July.

Bales became the first ever oarsman from USD to be invited to participate in the camp, an event that sent invitations to only 24 rowers and 3 coxswains in the US. The selection camp determines the crews selected to represent the U.S. at the 2024 World Rowing Under 23 Championships in St. Catherines, Ontario, Canada, held Aug. 18-25.

"It's an incredible honor that Rex has been invited to this event for the first time in school history," said head coach Bart Thompson. "It's especially impressive that he was only a sophomore last year and is already competing at such a high level. We're really proud of what he's been able to accomplish so far in his rowing career and excited to see him continue to succeed."
