SAN DIEGO – Incoming San Diego women's basketball freshman guard
Jessica Ajayi is in the Czech Republic this week as she's set to compete for Team Nigeria at the 2025 FIBA U19 Women's Basketball World Cup.
Ajayi, a freshman standout from Kent, Washington helped lead her team to an impressive first round victory on Saturday as Nigeria defeated China 93-88 in their first game of the tournament group stage. Ajayi was instrumental in the victory as she scored 10 points, dished out a trio of assists and grabbed a pair of rebounds in her 15 minutes of action.
The full Women's Basketball World Cup will take place from July 12-20 in Brno, Czech Republic as 15 nations compete for the world cup trophy.
Team Nigeria will play their next game tomorrow morning, July 13 at 8:30 a.m. PST as they will take on Canada looking to improve to 2-0 in their group.
