"Breakdown With Blanche" Volume Two: New Beginnings

Hey Torero Family,

This past month has been full of momentum for our program, and we're excited to share what we've built so far and what's coming next for Torero Women's Basketball.

Looking forward, this is just the beginning for us here in San Diego. It's our first season together as a staff and team, and we couldn't be more excited about what's ahead. The work we've put in this summer has laid a strong foundation, and we want you with us as we continue building something special.

Last month, we hosted our inaugural USD Basketball Coaches Clinic in the Basketball Perfomance Center — it was a huge success. Championship-caliber guest speakers from both the NBA and college ranks shared their expertise, and the turnout was amazing. Coaches from across Southern California attended from all levels and backgrounds, ready to learn and network. The energy in the gym was electric, and it reminded us how strong and supportive this San Diego basketball community is. We're already planning next year's clinic, so mark your calendars for August 8, 2026. It's going to be even bigger and better.

That night we rolled right into our alumni event, and wow, what a night! Alumni came from all over the country to be back on campus, sharing stories and reconnecting with each other and our current program. There's a lot of great USD Women's Basketball history, and we look forward to continuing to honor our past while building toward the future. Once a Torero, always a Torero.

We're keeping that recognition going with our weekly alumni spotlights throughout our social media accounts, It's an awesome way for our program to celebrate the amazing things our former players are doing and share their journeys with our current team and Torero community. Highlighting their accomplishments reminds us of the foundational stories of USD Women's Basketball and inspires what we're building together.

With our current roster, we're fired up to have our team back in San Diego after a few weeks away. Fall at USD is incredible, with classes kicking off and our players getting involved all over campus. We've already helped freshmen move into their new dorms and have launched outreach through Ballin' 4 Books, a new initiative we'll share more details about soon. We couldn't ask for a better place to start this journey with our team and community, and I can't wait until we're competing in front of our great fans in the Jenny Craig Pavilion.

By the way, we'd love to invite you all to our next event — Breakfast & Basketball. It's an open practice where you can check us out, enjoy food, win prizes, and meet our team during an autograph session. This will be held on Saturday morning, September 27 at 9:15 a.m. Click here to register!

Thanks for being a part of it with us, and I can't wait to see you all around campus and in the gym soon.

It's Torero Time!
