LA QUINTA, Calif. — The University of San Diego men's golf team finished tied for eighth in the team competition at The Prestige Presented by Montauk, wrapping up the shortened 36-hole stroke play event at PGA West's Greg Norman Course on Monday after a third round was canceled due to high winds. Stanford claimed the team title at 5-under par, while the Toreros posted a 13-over total to share eighth place with Washington State among the 24-team field.
Reed Arnaldo paced USD in the team competition, finishing tied for 12th overall at even par with rounds of 68 and 74.
You Seong Choi finished tied for 19th at 2-over after carding 70 and 74, while
Ian Maspat came in tied for 29th at 3-over with rounds of 74 and 71.
Cooper Humphreys checked in tied for 86th at 10-over, and
Brady Clark rounded out the Torero lineup tied for 94th at 11-over.
In the individual competition held separately at GC at Terra Lago – North,
Reid Piron delivered USD's strongest individual finish, placing sixth among 47 competitors at 5-over with rounds of 70, 73 and 78 on the par-72 layout.
Charlie Gillespie also competed as an individual, finishing tied for 37th at 22-over after carding 77, 80 and 81.
San Diego returns to action March 9-10 at the R.E.L. Invitational, hosted by USD at San Diego Country Club in Chula Vista, Calif.
