MARICOPA, Ariz. — The University of San Diego men's golf team closed out the Wyoming Cowboy Classic on Wednesday, finishing 10th out of 25 teams with a 54-hole total of 9-under par at Southern Dunes Golf Club in Maricopa, Arizona.
Ian Maspat led the Toreros from start to finish, posting rounds of 67-72-70 for a 7-under 209 that earned him a ninth-place finish individually. Maspat opened with one of the stronger first rounds in the field — a 5-under 67 that included a front nine of 35 and a back nine of 32 — before steadying himself in the final round with a 2-under 70 to secure a top-10 finish.
Reed Arnaldo (T-33) was San Diego's second scorer, finishing at 1-under 215 after rounds of 69-75-71. Arnaldo bounced back from a difficult second round to close with a 1-under 71 and place tied for 33rd.
Brady Clark finished even par at 216 (70-72-74), tied for 43rd in the 128-player field.
You Seong Choi posted a 1-over 217 (71-74-72) to finish tied for 46th, while
Reid Piron rounded out the Toreros' lineup at 5-over 221 (71-78-72), tied for 72nd.
As a team, San Diego shot 285-289-285 across the three days. The Toreros' 11-under first round was one of the stronger team performances in the opening 18 holes, and they recovered from a difficult second day to close with a 3-under 285 on Wednesday.
Southern California captured the team title at 26-under par with rounds of 16-under, 6-under and 4-under, holding off Arkansas State (-25) and Grand Canyon (-23). San Diego's #42-ranked Toreros finished one position ahead of Iowa State in the final standings.

The Toreros are back in action on Friday, April 10, when they begin play in the Thunderbird Invitational, hosted by Arizona State at Papago Golf Course.
