Maspat and Arnaldo Earn 2026 All-WCC Golf First Team Honors

WCC individual champion and freshman standout selected to all-conference team

SAN BRUNO, Calif. — Graduate student Ian Maspat, the 2026 WCC individual champion, and freshman Reed Arnaldo have been named to the 2026 All-West Coast Conference Men's Golf First Team, the West Coast Conference announced on Wednesday morning.

The pair of selections cap standout 2025-26 campaigns in which the Toreros captured the team title at the R.E. Lamkin Invitational, finished first in stroke play at the WCC Championship at Green Valley Country Club, and posted multiple top-five team finishes throughout the fall and spring.

Maspat earned First Team All-WCC honors after a campaign that culminated in his claiming the WCC individual title last weekend, where his 15-under 198 tied the conference's low 54-hole score and made him USD's fourth WCC individual champion and the program's first since Grant Forrest in 2013. He topped Oregon State's Nguyen Anh Minh by three strokes in stroke play before defeating Beavers teammate Rylan Johnson 4 and 3 in match-play singles during the team semifinals. Maspat posted top-10 finishes in each of his final five tournaments — sixth at the R.E. Lamkin Invitational (-6, 210), eighth at the Pauma Valley Invitational, tied for ninth at the Wyoming Cowboy Classic (-7, 209), tied for fourth at the Thunderbird Invitational (-10, 203), and his championship-winning performance at Green Valley. The San Diego native also recorded a tie for eighth at The Tindall (-6, 210) in September and a fourth-place finish (-8, 208) at the Visit Stockton Pacific Invitational, fueled by an opening-round 64.

Arnaldo picked up First Team All-WCC honors in his collegiate debut season after a freshman year that produced top-25 finishes in his first two career starts and three top-12 individual finishes. The Encinitas native and La Costa Canyon High School product, who helped his school capture the 2024 CIF-San Diego Section Men's Golf Championship before arriving at USD, opened his career by placing 18th (+1, 214) at The Wohali in Salt Lake City and tied for 19th (-2, 214) at The Tindall. He continued to climb the leaderboards in the spring, posting a tie for ninth (-6, 210) at the Visit Stockton Pacific Invitational, a tie for seventh (-5, 211) at the R.E. Lamkin Invitational — where he finished one stroke back of Maspat as USD captured its first team title since the 2025 Nick Watney Invitational — and a tie for 12th (-3) at the WCC Championship. In match-play singles, Arnaldo carried his semifinal match all the way to the 18th hole before falling 1 up to Oregon State's Collin Hodgkinson.

San Diego is headed to the Corvallis Regional at Trysting Tree Golf Club in Corvallis, Ore., May 18-20, as the Toreros look to advance to the NCAA Championship at Omni La Costa Resort & Spa in nearby Carlsbad, Calif.
