Tyler Kincaid

Tyler Kincaid is in his sixth season as an assistant coach with the Toreros. Kincaid serves as USD's pitching coach and helps assist head coach Rich Hill with all aspects of the game.

Kincaid's work with the pitchers has been evident with the development of their staff. In his time on "The Hill", the Toreros have:

· Advanced to 3 NCAA Regionals - 2010, 2012, 2013
· Advanced to Los Angeles Regional Final - 2013
· 2010 West Coast Conference Champions
· 2013 West Coast Conference Tournament Champions
· 18 Pitchers selected in MLB amateur draft (11 had never previously been drafted; 5 improved previous slot)
· 3 Louisville Slugger All-Americans - One 2nd Team, Two 3rd Team
· 2 Louisville Slugger Freshman All-Americans
· 10 All WCC selections (Entire Weekend Rotation in 2010)
· 1 Unanimous WCC Pitcher of the Year - Kyle Blair

2014 - Helped lead USD to an overall record of 36-20. Senior LHP and 2-way standout Louie Lechich earned 3rd Team All-American honors as well as 1st Team All WCC. Five pitchers were selected in the MLB Draft: Lechich (6th Rd - White Sox), Max MacNabb (18th Rd - Padres), Lucas Long (24th Rd - Orioles), Josh Goossen-Brown (31st Rd - White Sox), and Brandon Show (38th Rd - Red Sox).

2013 - Kincaid helped USD to earn a berth to the inaugural WCC Tournament, and led them to the championship out of the losers bracket. With the championship, the Toreros earned the automatic bid into the NCAA Regional. At UCLA, they advanced to the Regional Championship game after defeating both SDSU and Cal Poly, but losing to UCLA - the eventual National Champion. Freshman PJ Conlon earned 3rd Team All-American honors, as well as Freshman All-American and 1st Team All WCC. Four pitchers were selected in the MLB Draft: Dylan Covey (4th Rd - Athletics), Michael Wagner (15th Rd - Cubs), Trevor Bayless (22 Rd - Athletics), and Max Homick (32nd Rd - Orioles).

2012 - He helped to lead USD to a 40-17 record, as well as a Regional berth for the second time in three years. His guidance has helped lower the team ERA from the previous year by nearly a full run (4.32 to 3.35). Closer Michael Wagner finished tied for 2nd in the country in saves (19) while posting a 5-2 record, garnering him 2nd Team All-America by the NCBWA and Honorable Mention All-WCC. Pitchers Paul Sewald and James Pazos were named 1st Team All -WCC. Sewald (10th Rd - Mets) and Pazos (13th Rd - Yankees) were joined by Calvin Drummond (38th Rd - Athletics) with their selections in the MLB Draft.

2011- The Toreros finished the season with a record of 22-31 and tied for 3rd in the WCC. LHP Paul Paez was selected as a Freshman All-American by Louisville Slugger. Two pitchers were selected in the MLB Draft: Chris Jensen (6th Rd - Rockies) and Calvin Drummond (34th Rd - Nationals).

2010- In only his first season with the program, Kincaid helped guide the Toreros to the WCC championship with a 19-2 record, (37-22 overall), breaking the all time win percentage mark in conference history. The Toreros pitching staff flourished under his tutelage, as the Torero staff led the WCC statistically in total strike outs with 543 (3rd nationally, 2nd most in school history) and in conference with ERA (2.73), Saves (6- Tied), IP (191.0), H (152), R (67), ER (58), BB (51), SO (208).

Kyle Blair was a unanimous selection as the WCC Pitcher of the Year as well as 3rd team All-America by Louisville Slugger. Four pitchers (Blair, Sammy Solis, AJ Griffin, and Matt Thomson) were selected All-WCC First Team: And Kincaid helped his entire weekend rotation and two closers get selected in the 2010 MLB Draft: Solis (2nd Rd - Nationals), Blair (4th Rd - Indians), Matt Hauser (7th Rd- Twins), Thompson (12th Rd - Athletics), and Griffin (13th Rd - Athletics).

Palomar College - Prior to USD, Kincaid served as the pitching coach at Palomar College from 2005-09. In 2009, Palomar finished the season with an overall record of 36-13-1, winning the Pacific Coast Conference Championship and setting a new school record for wins. Kincaid's pitching staff ranked No. 1 in California with a team ERA of 2.60.

During his tenure at Palomar, the Comets:

San Francisco State University - Prior to working at Palomar College, Kincaid had success at San Francisco State as the pitching coach from 2002-2005, where he helped lead the 2004 Gator pitching staff to its first 30-win season since 1995, the lowest team ERA since 1991 at 4.99, and its first back-to-back winning seasons since the 1990-91 seasons.

Chatham A's - He has also served as the pitching coach with the Chatham A's baseball team in the prestigious Cape Cod League for five summers. In the summers of 2005 and 2006, he helped guide the A's pitching staff to the second lowest ERA in the league, while also giving up the fewest number of hits. The A's advanced to the Cape Cod playoffs in three of the five years Kincaid coached them and he coached two of the Most Outstanding Pitcher award winners of the CBBL in current Major Leaguers Andrew Miller (2005) from North Carolina, and Tom Milone (2007) from USC. Eleven of his pitchers were CCBL All Star selections.

Personal - Kincaid attended San Francisco State University where he earned his Bachelor's degree in Kinesiology - Physical in 2001, as well as a Master's degree in Secondary Education that he received in 2005. Tyler and his wife Jennifer, along with their son Grant and daughter Audrey, reside in Carlsbad, Calif.
