JUNIOR (2016): Played in two games at third base with one plate appearance. SOPHOMORE (2015): Played at Southwestern College...played in 26 games...went 3-for-3 with two RBI against Cerro Coso (4/18/15). FRESHMAN (2014): Played at Southwestern College...played in 23 games...helped lead the team to Sectionals before their loss to Orange Coast College...went 2-for-2 with two RBI against Santa Ana in the Super Regionals (5/11/14). HIGH SCHOOL: Prepped at Otay Ranch High School...as a senior, he hit .300, and recorded 14 RBI en routine to being named Defensive Player of the Year, All-Metro Mesa League second-team honors, and took home All-Academic honor...as a junior, he hit .325 with one home run and 13 RBI...was named second-team All-Metro Mesa League as a sophomore, and took home All-Academic honors. PERSONAL: Samuel (Sammy) Julio Perez, was born on October 24, 1994 in San Diego, Calif....he is the son of Samuel and Angelina Perez...was also recruited by Sonoma State, Cal State San Marcos, Cal State East Bay and Westmont...chose to attend USD because of the baseball program, the coaching staff, prestigious academic reputation and he wants to stay in his home town...notes he loves the beach, and enjoys going boogie boarding.
