REDSHIRT SOPHOMORE (2021)
  • Competed in two races for the Toreros in the 2V8+ (4/11 vs. Temple and UC San Diego) and the 1V8+ (4/24 vs. Gonzaga and UC San Diego)
PRIOR TO USD
  • Rowed two seasons at Orange Coast College in Costa Mesa, Calif.
  • Member of the 2019 ACRA Men’s Second Novice B Champions
  • Team placed first in the 2019 Newport Reggatta Novice 8, the WIRA Men’s Second Novice 8 and the San Diego Crew Classic Second Novice 8
  • Participated in the 2020 San Diego Fall Classic
 
HIGH SCHOOL/CLUB
  • Was a multi-sport athlete participating in tennis and crew
  • Rowed with Mile High Rowing Club from 2014-2017
  • Won the 2017 Youth National Rowing Championship C Final in the men’s quad
  • Placed first in the 2017 Mountain West Regional Regatta in the men’s junior double, four + and quad
  • Set a course record at the 2016 Wichita Frostbite Regatta as a member of the men’s junior double
  • Placed first in the 2016 Wichita Frostbite Regatta I the men’s junior 8+
  • Finished in the top three at the 2015 Denver Rowing Championships in the men’s junior heavy weight 2k and 500 meter
 
PERSONAL
  • Son of David and Kellie Bernstein, has two brothers Noah and Benjamin
  • Dean’s List student in 2018 at Orange Coast College
  • Served his community as a volunteer at the Pirate pantry at Orange Coast College
  • Also organized a fundraiser in high school to benefit his club team
  • Enjoys cooking, astronomy, hiking, skiing and playing video games
  • Chose USD because of, “USD’s dedication to bettering oneself through a holistic, non-singular approach to academics, and a foundation built on ethics in and out of the classroom, was a big part of the decision.
