FRESHMAN (2016): Utilized redshirt season. HIGH SCHOOL/CLUB: Prepped at Canyon High School...was a four-year letter winner...was a four-time scholar athlete...as a senior, she scored five goals, and had nine assists en route to a first-team All-Crestview League selection...she also helped lead her team to the Crestview League Championship as a senior, and into the first round of CIF playoffs...as a sophomore, she scored six goals, and had two assists, while helping her team place third in league and make the first round of CIF...as a freshman, she scored one goal, and helped her team advance to the second round of CIF...played club soccer for the CDA Slammers EGSL Team...helped her team go undefeated (7-0-4) and take first place in SDCL GU19...during league play she scored six goals and had 11 assists...she was named the MVP of the Champions of Players Cup, scoring the winning goal in the final five minutes...she was also named MVP of the Champions of Memorial Challenge Cup...she also helped her team go undefeated and take a first place finish in both the Albion Showcase and in the Sharks Showcase. PERSONAL: Madison Candice Buckner was born on May 7, 1998 in Long Beach, Calif....she is the daughter of Darrin and Candy Buckner...was also recruited by Alabama State, the College of St. Rose, CMU, Cal Lutheran and UC San Diego...chose to attend USD because when arriving to campus, she felt it was the perfect college for her...She felt the students and faculty were very helpful and kind, the soccer team and coaches were very welcoming, she liked that the classroom size, and the location of the university...her brother Darrin ran track and field at Cal State Los Angeles...notes that she loves to hang out a the beach, and that she had a once in a lifetime experience, as she watched the US national team win the final of the Women's World Cup against Japan in Vancouver.
