Jordan Angus enters his fourth season on the coaching staff for USD women's tennis in 2025-26 after first being named an assistant coach of September 2022 and later being elevated to his current role of Associate Head Coach in July 2024.
Angus is no stranger to USD, having played for the men’s tennis team from 2014-16 with career-high ITA rankings of No. 24 in singles, No. 7 in doubles, and up until 2025 held the program record for most doubles wins in a single season with 28.
Since returning to the Hogan Tennis Center sidelines, Angus has Aided USD women’s tennis to historic heights. He was honored as the ITA Southwest Region Assistant Coach of the Year in 2024. Under his assistance, the Toreros won the WCC title for the first time ever in 2025, reached a program-best No. 12 national ranking in 2024, qualified for the ITA Indoor National Championships for the first time in program history in 2023, and reached the NCAA Tournament second round twice.
He's led San Diego to reach the nation's top-40 rankings in each of his three seasons with the team, while the Toreros reached four straight NCAA Tournaments for the first time since the turn of the decade and advanced to the second round in each of her first two seasons in charge (2023 and 2024).
In 2025 Angus helped USD to it's first West Coast Conference Regular Season Championsip in program history. The Toreros swept the conference individual awards as head coach Nadia Abdala was WCC Coach of the Year (she credited Angus on the award), Spaniard Claudia de las Heras was WCC Player of the Year (USD's first in 20 years), and Englishwoman Hannah Read WCC Freshman of the year. Kailey Evans also reached the second round of the NCAA Singles Championships, only falling to the eventual National Champion in three sets.
The 2024 season saw the Toreros reach a second straight NCAA Tourney second round, also finishing second in the conference regular season and tournament races. Most notably, the team hit a program-high ITA team ranking of No. 12, finishing 21st nationally. Claudia de las Heras was named ITA Southwest Region Most Improved Player under Angus and Abdala's direction.
In Angus' maiden season as assistant coach with the Toreros in 2023 USD advanced to the second round of the NCAA Tournament. On the individual side Kailey Evans and Elizabeth Goldsmith were mainstays in the ITA rankings and played to the second round of the NCAA Doubles Championships.
Angus returned to USD in late summer 2022 after coaching stops at Eagle Fustar Tennis Academy and Santa Clara, where his brother, Niall Angus, is the head coach of the Broncos men's tennis team.
After transferring to USD from Mississippi State, Angus dominated in his two seasons, registering a 50-15 overall record in singles and a 50-19 record in doubles. His senior season ended with 2015-16 Male Torero of the Year accolades after tying a program record for most doubles wins in a season (28).
Angus ranked as high as No. 24 in singles by the ITA, and No. 7 in doubles in his USD tenure. He accumulated team record book-worthy career winning percentages in doubles (.725, 50-19), and singles (.769, 50-15), eclipsing 50 career wins in both fields.
The London, England native was named First Team All-WCC twice and Second Team All-WCC twice. He never lost a WCC singles match in his career (12-0).
