#21 USD Drops 1-0 Heartbreaker Against #4 Portland

SAN DIEGO, Calif. - Junior Portland defender Kelsy Hollenbeck capitalized on a loose ball in front of the net, posting the only goal of the match with just 16 seconds left on the clock. With less than a minute to play in regulation, Lindsey Huie took a corner kick for Portland that deflected off Torero goalkeeper Karen Cook and then off the right goalpost. There were about six bodies around the post and Portland's Lindsey Sinclair was able to tap the ball to Hollenbeck who put it in the net for the game-winning score. It was her first goal on the year.

The match was played fairly even in the first half, with Portland going into the half with a 7-4 shot advantage. Torero goalkeeper Karen Cook played brilliantly in goal, stopping three shots first half and four more in the second half. Marie-Claude Henry nearly put the Toreros in the lead in the 80th minute but her shot was turned away by Pilot goalkeeper Cori Alexander. Amy Epsten led the Toreros with two shots in the match, both of them on goal

There were very few whistles in the match, with seven fouls called against San Diego and only two against Portland. The Pilots held the slight advantage on corner kicks at 7-6.
