Best Start in Program History Comes to an End at Eight Matches Unbeaten

Torero women's soccer drops 4-0 decision to Gonzaga in Spokane

SPOKANE, Wash. — San Diego Women's soccer fell to Gonzaga by a tough 4-0 margin at Luger field in Spokane on Saturday night, snapping an eight-game unbeaten streak for the Toreros.

"Tonight wasn't our night. We tried to be brave in our possession, but turnovers against a good athletic team cost us," said head coach Greg LaPorte. "That said, I don't want this one result to take away from what this group has accomplished. Eight games unbeaten, the best run in program history. This loss stings, but it doesn't define us. We'll learn, we'll respond, and we'll be stronger for it."

Junior goalkeeper Ilise Medrano made her fourth start of the season in goal, and notched three saves.

The Bulldogs scored early in the eighth minute of play, but the game remained in reach for San Diego through the remainder of the first period as the 1-0 margin held at the break.

Gonzaga then opened up the second half strong, scoring goals in the 60th and 64th minutes to make it 3-0, before scoring the final goal in the 82nd minute to finish the game at 4-0.
