SAN DIEGO, CA - The University of San Diego men's tennis team extended their season record to 4-1 Sunday after handing LMU a 7-0 defeat. This victory marks the third consecutive win for the Toreros.
The USD sweep of LMU started in the doubles ladder where all three Torero duos defeated their opposition. Pierrick Ysern and Mirza Koristovic teamed up to defeat LMU's Mike Wojnarowicz and Matt Phillips by a score of 8-5. Oscar Plotnik and Jonas Mouly defeated Carlos Malet and Linas Cicenas 8-2 and Chris Coetzee and Matt Ozurovich won 8-4 over LMU's Nico Terrien and Michael Chan.
In the singles bracket, the sweep continued as all six San Diego men defeated their competition. In the No. 2 slot, Mirza Koristovic took his match to three sets and pulled off a victory over Mike Wojnarowicz by scores of 3-6, 6-4, and 6-2. Freshman Ryo Sekiguchi made his debut as a Torero in the No. 5 spot and defeated Reyniere Roxas of LMU (6-3, 6-1).
San Diego begins a three-game road trip as they head up to Los Angeles Friday, February 10 for a 1:30 pm match.
