SAN DIEGO, Calif. - The University of San Diego women's tennis team dropped a hard-fought 7-0 decision today to the USC Women of Troy, the third ranked team in the nation. Torero junior Monica Wiesener, playing at No. 1 singles, gave Lindsey Nelson, last year's national runner-up, a tough match before falling 6-4, 4-6, and 10-8 in the tiebreaker. USD (2-2) returns to the USD West Courts on Tuesday, February 6th, to take on the No. 51 LSU Lady Tigers in a 1:30 pm match.
USC swept the doubles matches to earn the first team point. Sarah Fansler, the 9th-ranked player in the nation, defeated Helene Lindstrand in straight sets at No. 2 singles, and USD's Zoe Taylor played a strong match against Dianne Matias, the 46th-ranked player in the nation, before falling 6-3, 6-3 at No. 4 singles.
