(San Diego, CA) The USD Toreros dropped a 5-2 match to 59th-ranked Saint Mary's today in first day action at the 2007 USD Invitational. Penn opened the day with a 6-1 win over USF, and will now meet USD on Saturday in a 9:30 a.m. match. The Toreros were swept in doubles by the Gaels, and recorded wins from Alexandra Demidova at No. 4 and Justine Perl at No. 5. Demidova downed Erin Young, 6-4, 6-2; Perl easily beat Feline Charlot, 6-2, 6-1. USD's Monica Wiesener, playing at No. 1 singles, gave Aude Lmabert a tough match before falling, 6-2, 2-6, 1-0 (10-4 tiebreaker).
