(San Diego, CA) - The USD women's tennis program, under the direction of 24th-year head coach Sherri Stephens, opened up their 2008 slate with a convincing 7-0 win over Cal State Fullerton. USD won all three doubles matches to start off with a 1-0 lead, then finished off the Titans by sweeping all six singles matches, including straight set wins at No. 1 through No. 4. Senior Helene Lindstrand defeated Erin Wiesener at No. 1 singles, 6-2, 6-3. Senior Monica Wiesener won at No. 2 singles, beating Cheyenne Inglis, 6-0, 6-3. Sophomore Alex Demidova won at No. 3 singles with a 6-1, 6-1 victory over Jerusha Cruz. USD newcomers Milou Teeling (No. 4), Carla Tamborini (No. 5) and Ellie Faulkner (No. 6) also won.
