Tucson, AZ - The USD Toreros put up a tough battle against the 39th-ranked University of Arizona on Sunday, but the host Wildcats held on for a 4-3 victory. USD jumped out to a 1-0 lead after winning two of the three doubles matches. Helene Lindstrand and Alex Demidova teamed up at No. 1 doubles to beat Danielle Steinberg and Claire Rietsch, 9-8. At No. 3 doubles, Monica Wiesener and Tammy Kevey beat Jane Huh & Ariane Masschelein, 8-0. Arizona won four of the singles matches to clinch the victory. USD wins came from Helene Lindstrand at No. 2 (6-4, 6-4 vs. Natalia Toporowska) and Tammy Kevey at No. 5 (6-4, 7-6 vs. Ariane Masschelein). USD falls to 1-3 on the season with its next match coming on Feb. 16th at home against Pepperdine.
