Houston, TX - The USD Toreros dropped a hard fought 4-2 decision to the host Rice Owls at the Rice Invitational today. Rice won the doubles point despite a 8-4 win by Thomas Liversage and Chris Coetzee at No. 1. In singles play, Rice won at No. 1 and No. 2 singles as Liversage and Jackson both lost. Bruno Rosa beat Liversage 3-6, 6-2, 6-3 at No. 1, and Chritoph Muller beat Jackson, 6-4, 6-1. San Diego received wins at No. 3 by Chris Coetzee, a 6-3, 7-5 winner over Chong Wang, and by Charl Wolmarans at No. 4, a 2-6, 6-1, 6-4 winner over Filip Zivojinovic. Jose Munoz dropped a 6-3, 6-2 decision to Dennis Polyakov at No. 5. USD will face Texas-Corpus Christi tomorrow.
