Houston, TX - The USD Toreros started off the Rice Invitational with a solid 4-0 win over Middle Tennessee State. The tourney was set up so that once the match was won, all other matches would be called off. USD won the doubles point, then picked up singles victories at 1, 2 and 6 for the 4-0 victory. The doubles tandem of Thomas Liversage and Chris Coetzee won 8-6 at No. 1 doubles over Richard Cowden and John Peers. USD's freshman duo of Dean Jackson and Nils Schive also won at No. 2 doubles with a 8-6 win over Morgan Richard and Marc Rocafort.

Liversage and Jackson both won straight set victories at No. 1 and No. 2 singles. Liversage beat John Peers, 6-2, 6-4 at the top of the lineup. Jackson downed Morgan Richard, 7-5, 7-5. At No. 6 singles, Nils Schive beat Chris Nowark, 4-6, 6-1, 6-4. USD will take on Iowa tomorrow as the Rice Invitational continues.
