Fort Worth, Texas - The No. 63 Men's Tennis team fell 6-1 on Friday against the TCU Frogs at the Bayard H. Friedman Tennis Center. San Diego drops to 4-8 on the Spring season.
The Frogs continued their recent roll in doubles play (seventh straight win in doubles play), claiming the point for the seventh straight outing with a three-match sweep of the Toreros. At No. 1 singles, the 14th ranked pair of Emanuel Brighiu and Adrian Simon topped USD's doubles tandem of senior Chris Coetzee and junior Charl Wolmarans, 8-3, followed by a quick win from Zack Nichols and Christopher over sophomores Dean Jackson and Nils Schive, 8-4.
TCU's 26th ranked doubles combo of Kriegler Brink and Slah Mbarek improved to 6-1 this spring while closing out the point with an 8-2 victory over freshman Juan Devillier and freshman Nicola Bubnic in the No. 2 slot.
The highlight of the match for San Diego came at No. 1 singles, as Jackson earned his fourth straight win and second consecutive victory over a ranked opponent. Jackson earned a staight set defeat of #79 Emanuel Brighiu, 6-4, 6-2.
San Diego continues its midwest roadtrip Saturday, when it travels to Oklahoma to face the Sooners at 2 p.m. PT on the indoor courts of Gregg Wadley Tennis Pavilion.
