Torero Women End Fall On a Positive Note

TEMPE, Ariz.- The University of San Diego women's tennis ended their fall tournament schedule on a high note with a pair of wins on Sunday in the ASU Thunderbird Invitational from Whiteman Tennis Center at Arizona State University.

Freshman Anna Depenau earned her first win of the tournament, beating California's Stephany Chang, 6-2, 6-0, in her final match of the singles back draw. Depenau finishes the fall with a 3-6 singles record overall.

The Toreros wrapped up fall competition by getting a win from their top doubles tandem of Juliette Coupez and Maja Sujica, who defeated Northwestern's Elena Chernyakova and Natalie Edell, 8-4. Coupez and Sujica posted a team-best 4-2 doubles mark in three tournaments this fall.

USD takes the next two months off to prepare for the spring season when they open up play at home against Cal State Fullerton, Saturday, January 22nd, 2011 at 10:00 a.m.
