SAN DIEGO, Calif. - The University of San Diego head women's basketball coach Cindy Fisher is pleased to announce the signing of Eliza "Izzy" Chilcott to a National Letter of Intent to play for the Toreros beginning in the 2010-11 season.

Eliza is a 5-10 guard who has spent the past two seasons at Pensacola Junior College (PJC) in Pensacola Florida. At PJC, she was a two-year starter on a team that finished the 2009-10 season ranked eighth in the nation, and completed her career with an overall record of 46 wins to only 12 losses. Eliza averaged 12.6 points per game and 4.5 rebounds per game and was named to the All-Pan Handle Conference Team which is recognized as the No. 1 junior college conference in the country. Eliza was also the recipient of the Presidential Leadership Award and Athletic Academic Award at PJC. The Presidential Leadership Award recognizes the top student athlete at the institution. Eliza is originally from Gold Coast, Australia where she attended Hillcrest Christian College. She plans on pursuing a degree in Business while attending USD.

"We are thrilled to have Izzy joining our program at the University of San Diego," stated Fisher. "Izzy's size and versatility on the wing will add great strength and depth to our guard line up. Strong character and academic success are also extremely important qualities we look for in our student athletes and Izzy more than fits the bill. Adding a player to our team that has played under Coach Rigby and understands discipline, hard work and competing at a high level is priceless. Izzy will make an immediate impact at the University of San Diego."
