PACIFIC PALISADES, Calif.- University of San Diego junior Stephanie Hoffpauir came up short in her bid to be one of eight singles participants to advance to the main draw of the ITA/Riviera's All-American Championships at the Riviera Tennis Club this week. No. 55 Hoffpauir was knocked out in the second round of singles qualifying by Baylor's Diana Nakic, ranked 28th, by a score of 6-3, 6-3.
Meanwhile, Hoffpauir and doubles partner Juliette Coupez were unable to get past Tennessee's Brynn Boren and Sarah Toti in qualifying doubles action on Thursday morning, narrowly losing 9-8(2).
The losses end competition for the Toreros at the tournament. Poor weather on Wednesday postponed the final rounds of qualifying doubles until Thursday morning. USD returns to action at the ITA Southwest Regional Championships at Barnes Tennis Center Oct. 21st-24th.
