TEMPE, Ariz.- The University of San Diego women's tennis team continued action at the ASU Thunderbird Invitational on Saturday from ASU's Whiteman Tennis Center. The Toreros won all four singles matches they played and split their two doubles contests on the day.
With no participants remaining in the main draw, the Toreros took care of business with strong play in their consolation and auxiliary matches. Senior Juliette Coupez knocked off Arizona State's Nicole Smith in straight sets, 6-1, 6-3. Likewise, No. 55 Stephanie Hoffpauir defeated Sianna Simmons of Arizona State, 6-3, 6-4.
Laura Claus and Anna Depenau were also victorious on the day as Claus topped Michelle Sulahian of Michigan, 6-1, 6-4, while Depenau earned a victory over Arizona State's J. Smith.
Doubles play featured a win from Coupez and Claus over Ohio State's Kara Cecil and Kelsey Haviland 8-4. The only loss of the day came with a doubles defeat of Depenau and Maja Sujica by Sarah Lee and Perez of Michigan, 8-4.
Day three continues on Sunday with singles and doubles action.
