SAN DIEGO, Calif. - Senior striker Stephanie Ochs of the University of San Diego women's soccer team has been named the West coast Conference Player of the Week, the conference office announced Monday morning.
Ochs, a 5-9 senior from San Diego, helped lead USD to a monumental 3-0 upset over No. 7 Santa Clara University this past Friday, which catapulted USD into a share of its first ever WCC championship. Ochs had her hand in all three of the Toreros' goals, as she recorded three assists. She helped set up Mariah Butera, Meghan O'Rourke, and Dani Russell to give USD the victory on national television. This also extended USD's winning streak to seven matches, as USD finished the regular-season with a 12-7-0 overall record and a 7-1-0 record in the WCC. Ochs finished the regular-season with eight goals and 11 assists for 27 points.
Ochs and the rest of the Toreros now await the NCAA Selection Show today at 1:30 p.m. to learn where, who, and when they will be playing in the NCAA Tournament which begins this week.
