Las Toreras Triad Earn All-West Coast Conference

Callanan, Schlichting and Anders garner All-WCC postseason awards

SAN MATEO, Calif. – Three USD women's soccer players earned All-West Coast Conference postseason honors on Wednesday morning as sophomore defender Ella Callanan and senior forward Josefine Schlichting garnered second team all-conference and rookie phenom forward Amanda Anders was selected to the WCC All-Freshman Team.

For San Diego, it's two freshman in as many years under head coach Greg LaPorte on the West Coast Conference All-Freshman team and at least one player on the league's second team for the first time since 2021, two second-team honorees for the first time since 2017.

Callanan collects her second all-conference award in as many years, after having been named to the WCC All-Freshman Team in 2024. The defender from Portland, Ore. started in all 18 matches for Las Toreras and posted two goals and six assists, third on the team in points despite her defensive position in the formation. Her six assists were the most by a USD player in at least seven years, fifth-most in the conference.

Schlichting earns her first career all-conference on-field performance award after leading the team in goals and points as her eight goals and three assists (19 points) in 17 games were the most by a Torero since 2019. The eight goals, several in clutch moments, ranked fifth in the conference in 2025.

Anders, a local product from San Marcos, Calif., had a stellar first season of collegiate soccer, putting up six goals and an assist up top in 17 games played, 10 started, the most goals by a freshman in at least seven years. Anders' season was highlighted by a game-winning goal at Portland on Oct. 8 shot from nearly 40 yards out that landed as No. 1 on SportsCenter's Top-10 Plays. She was only bested for WCC Freshman of the Year by Gonzaga midfielder Samantha Snorsky who scored one goal and had nine assists in 19 games played. Anders' mother, Sherice Bartling, also played soccer at USD, graduating a Torero after two years at UCLA, eventually going on to play professionally in the U.S. top flight for the Boston Breakers.

2025 West Coast Conference All-Academic Awards will be announced on Thursday, Nov. 13, at 1 p.m. PST.
