Final Team by Team stats 
(Lakeside, CA) - With the final round of the Barona Collegiate Cup played in cold, windy and wet conditions, the 21st-ranked USD Toreros saw their two-round lead slip away as they placed second overall with a three-round team score of 1,086 (+6). Tournament host and 8th-ranked San Diego State tallied a final round 3-under 357 to finish at 1,079 overall (-1) to overtake the Toreros and win by a comfortable 7 strokes. UC Santa Barbara's Glen Scher shot a final round 72 to win medalist honors at 209 (-7). He edged out Nevada's Scott Smith and San Diego State's J.J. Spaun by one stroke.
USD was paced by junior Alex Ching who finished tied for 4th with a 2-under par total of 214 (75-64-75). His second round 64 was the tournament's low round. Torero senior Gunner Wiebe (218, 70-73-75) and freshman teammate Manav Shah (218, 67-72-79) both turned in top-10 performances as they finished tied for 9th overall.
USD scoring was rounded out by Ben Murray (T13 at 220; 74-72-74), Scott Brace (T22 at 223; 79-68-76) and Jason Shano (T40 at 227; 77-76-74). Two Toreros played as individuals - Leon Knoll (T49 at 229; 73-76-80) and Kenneth McCready (T69 at 233; 74-78-81). Complete results are available at www.Golfstat.com. USD's next competition will be at the Wyoming Cowboy Classic in Scottsdale, Arizona on April 4-5. The three-round event will be played at Talking Stick Golf Club. In last year's Wyoming Cowboy Classic, USD placed second and Gunner Wiebe earned medalist honors.
