USD Men's Golf Wins 2026 R.E. Lamkin Invitational

Graduate student Ian Maspat leads the way as Toreros finish first in 16-team field at San Diego Country Club

CHULA VISTA, Calif. — The University of San Diego men's golf team captured the R.E. Lamkin Invitational title Monday at San Diego Country Club, posting a three-round total of 26-under-par 838 to finish two strokes clear of Long Beach State. Ian Maspat led the way for the Toreros, closing with a 6-under 66 to finish sixth individually.

It was USD's first tournament victory since the it won the Nick Watney Invitational on Feb. 25, 2025.

USD carded rounds of 283-274-281 on the 7,033-yard, par-72 layout to outdistance a 16-team field that included San Diego State, BYU and UC San Diego. The Toreros' best round came in the middle circuit, a 14-under 274 that opened a significant gap on the field.

Ian Maspat led the way individually, finishing sixth overall at 6-under 210 after a closing 66 that was the low round of the day among Toreros. Maspat's final-round 66 matched his best stretch of the tournament and helped him vault up the leaderboard in the final 18 holes.

Reed Arnaldo tied for seventh at 5-under 211, carding rounds of 70-69-72. Cooper Humphreys tied for ninth at 4-under 212, while Reid Piron's 3-under 213 put him in a tie for 12th. You Seong Choi rounded out the counting scores at 6-over 222, tied for 52nd.

Playing as individuals, Brady Clark finished 38th at 4-over 220, while Go Nakatsukasa and Henry Dall each tied for 59th at 7-over 223. Charlie Gillespie rounded out the USD individual contingent, finishing 87th at 18-over 234.
