USD vs. Texas Tech Results 
TULSA, Okla. - The University of San Diego men's tennis team dropped a heartbreaker to No. 24 Texas Tech on Saturday afternoon from the University of Tulsa's Case Tennis Center, losing 4-3. Despite having three match points in singles to potentially clinch the victory, the 25th-ranked Toreros (2-2) were unable to close out their matches.
USD wrapped up the doubles point to start the day when Nikola Bubnic and Thibaut Visy posted an 8-5 win over Raony Carvalho and Rafael Garcia at No. 1 and Patrick Pohlmann and Ciaran Fitzgerald defeated Gonzalo Escobar and Vitor Manzini, 8-3 at No.2.
Singles play started out with Texas Tech (4-2) capturing a win at No. 1 as Carvalho took down Bubnic in straight sets, 6-2, 6-4. The Toreros answered, however, with Visy's 6-2, 6-3 victory over Francisco Zambon at No. 4.
The teams would trade the next two matches as well when Texas Tech's Gabriel Wanderley defeated Victor Pugliese, 6-2, 6-2 in the No. 6 spot, while No. 92 Pohlmann topped No. 23 Escobar 7-6(5), 6-2 at No. 2.
With USD up 3-2, Fitzgerald couldn't capitalize on a pair of match point opportunities and wound up getting edged by Manzini, 6-2, 4-6, 7-6(8) on court five. As the match hinged on the results of court three, Clarke Spinosa had his serve broken by Garcia, making the score in the third set 5-3. Garcia would go on to close out the match with a 6-2, 5-7, 6-3 victory and clinch the win for the Red Raiders.
The Toreros look to bounce back on Sunday when they face No. 23 Tulsa at 10:00 am PT from the Case Tennis Center.
