TULSA, Okla. - The 25th-ranked University of San Diego men's tennis team posted a 4-3 victory at No. 23 Tulsa on Sunday afternoon from the Case Tennis Center. USD won the doubles point with victories out of their No. 2 and No. 3 doubles pairs, while Nikola Bubnic clinched the win playing in his first match at the No. 2 position in singles this season.

The Toreros (3-2) were led in doubles action by their No. 2 tandem of Ciaran Fitzgerald and Patrick Pohlmann, who defeated No. 37 Grant Ive and Tristan Jackson, 8-4. Tulsa (2-5) was then able to grab a victory at No. 1 when their third-ranked pair of Ashley Watling and Clifford Marsland topped Bubnic and Thibaut Visy, 8-4. USD was able to bounce back and clinch the doubles point, however, with their No. 3 duo of Victor Pugliese and Clarke Spinosa earning an 8-4 win over Lucian Gheorghe and Alejandro Sanchez.

Both teams traded wins in singles play as Sanchez helped Tulsa strike first with a 6-3, 6-1 victory over Emilio Mora at No. 6. No. 61 Thibaut Visy then helped USD pull ahead with his 6-2, 6-4 win over Gheorge at No. 4. The Toreros kept the momentum in their favor as Spinosa tallied a singles victory at No. 3 over No. 88 Ive by a score of 7-6 (5), 6-4.

The Hurricane rallied back with consecutive wins at No. 5 and No. 1, before Bubnic battled past Marsland at No. 2 to wrap up the win for the Toreros with his 7-6 (3), 4-6, 7-5 victory.

With the win, USD split their two matches in Tulsa, Okla. over the weekend after losing to Texas Tech on Saturday.

The Toreros return to action with a two-match road trip to Arizona on Feb. 17th and 18th where they will face Arizona at 11:30 am on Friday, the 17th, followed by a 1:30 pm showdown with Denver at the University of Arizona on Saturday, the 18th.
