SAN DIEGO, Calif. - The University of San Diego women's tennis team defeated cross-town rival San Diego State 5-2 on Wednesday afternoon from the Aztec Tennis Center. Among the highlights of the day was USD sweeping doubles play while their No. 2 tandem of Anna Depenau and Maja Sujica added to their winning streak by capturing their 15th doubles victory in a row.

USD's No. 1 pair of Juliette Coupez and Laura Claus posted an 8-0 shutout to get things started before Stephanie Hoffpauir and Cara Brown improved to 7-2 in doubles play with their 8-3 win at No. 3. Depenau and Sujica wrapped up doubles action with an 8-6 win of their own.

Sujica got singles started with a 6-2, 6-2 victory at No. 5. The Toreros (8-8, 4-1 WCC) lost the next two contests at Nos. 1 and 6, before rattling off three-straight victories to wrap up the match.

The Toreros return to WCC action on Friday when they host Santa Clara at 1:30 pm at the Hogan Tennis Center.
