Junior forward Emily Dillon of the University of San Diego women's soccer team was selected as the USD/Muscle Milk Student-Athlete of the Week for Aug. 27- Sept. 3.
Dillon, a 5'6" junior from Long Beach, Calif, assisted all three USD goals last weekend in the USC Futbol Classic. Dillon's first assist came in the 13th minute against Washington State when she centered a pass into the box that junior Kelly McCloskey finished. Dillon's other two assists came in the 2-1 victory over USC. The first occurred in the 22nd minute when she set up senior Sierra Ferreira. Dillon's final assist happened late in the second half when she sent a cross into the box that sophomore Mariah Butera converted for the game-winning goal.
Dillon is in her first year with the Toreros after transferring from West Virginia and has wasted no time making her presence felt up front for the USD offense. Dillon currently leads the team in goals (2) and assists (3) contributing to five of USD's nine goals for the season.
USD will look for more firepower from Dillon this weekend as they take on No. 4 Duke and No. 18 North Carolina this weekend in the Duke Nike Classic.
