McDaniel Named WCC Player of the Week

Dec. 16, 2013

SAN BRUNO, Calif. - Junior forward Katelyn McDaniel was named WCC Player of the Week, the conference office announced Monday morning. McDaniel (Highlands Ranch, Colo.) helped lead San Diego to a thrilling 68-51 road victory over Long Beach State in the Toreros' lone contest of the week. With the win, the Toreros continue their best start in program history at 10-0, and stand as the only remaining undefeated WCC team.

McDaniel recorded her fourth double-double in the past five games, with a team-high 11 points and a career-high 18 rebounds to lead all players in this category. She also dished out a season-high three assists and tied a career-high with three steals. McDaniel averages 10.3 points and 8.1 rebounds per game and is tied for fourth among WCC double-double leaders with four.

The Toreros look to remain undefeated when they close out non-conference play on Friday against UC Irvine at the JCP. Tip-off is set for 6:00 p.m.
