Toreros Knock Off Portland 5-2

SAN DIEGO, Calif. - The No. 45 University of San Diego women's tennis team (7-6, 2-0) defeated Portland (7-8, 1-3) 5-2 on the road Saturday evening for their fourth consecutive win.

The Toreros won all three doubles matches to win the doubles point. Laura Claus and Shani Blecher, along with Anna Depenau and Stephanie Hoffpauir, both won 8-4 at the No. 1 and 2 spots respectively. The Toreros also won at the No. 3 where Cara Brown and Marta Stojanovic cruised to an 8-1 victory,

The Toreros won three single matches to clinch their second conference win. Shani Blecher won 7-5, 6-4 at the No. 3, along with Marta Stojanovic, who won 7-5, 6-4 at the No. 5. Anna Depenau clinched the victory for the Toreros with a 6-2, 6-1 victory at the No. 4. The Toreros won the final singles at the No. 6 by default.

The Toreros, who have won the first two conferences games on their road trip, will now travel to Moraga, Calif. for a Tuesday 11:00 a.m. match with Saint Mary's (8-7, 3-0) in a battle for first place in the WCC.)
