SAN FRANCISCO, Calif. - The No. 53 University of San Diego women's tennis team (9-8, 4-1) defeated the 67th ranked University of San Francisco Dons 4-3 Friday evening in a match that lasted nearly six hours. The Toreros were down 3-1, but won three singles matches down the stretch to seal the victory.
The Toreros lost the doubles point after losing at the No. 1 and 2 spots, but No. 108 Laura Claus got them on the board with a 6-4, 6-3 win at the No. 1. USF would follow that with singles victories at the No. 2 and 5 spots.
The Toreros rallied to win the next three singles matches to clinch the victory. Cara Brown won 6-4, 7-5 at the No. 6, which was followed by a 4-6, 6-1, 7-6 (7-2) victory for Marta Stojanovic at the No. 3. Anna Depenau clinched the marathon match with a 1-6, 7-5, 7-5 at the No. 4.
