With 3 tough tournaments and plenty of competition ahead of us for preseason, day one of practice shed light on how big of a threat the Torero volleyball team will be this upcoming season. We are kicking it all off in Hawaii playing at the Chevron Rainbow Wahine Invitational up against UTEP, Hawai'i, and none other than the defending national champions, Texas. Playing at Texas' home last season ended in a disappointing loss against them, but this year with 12 returners and 5 newcomers, we are ready to take them by the horns. 6 seniors lead the pack, which include Chloe Ferrari, Katie Hoekman, Rachel Alvey, C'era Oliveira, Jane Han, and transfer Taylor Hollins. Following are the juniors, Alaysia Brown, Sandra Lozic, Alexa Banker, and Jianna Bonomi. The sophomore class includes Caroline Ciaccio, Ryann Powell, and Lisa Kramer. Last, but definitely not least are the incoming freshmen, which includes Hunter Jennings, Lauren Schad, Jenny Lauber, and Sofia Lavin. The transition for this year's freshmen class appeared seamless. Our first practices had the look and feel of a seasoned team and it will be exciting to see the Torero's reach full potential. With that said, three years under the senior class' belt makes us are more than ready and excited to take on our final season together. This season will spring more than enough last chances than what we may want, but the finality of this fall for our senior class is a driving force for us to win. With a packed preseason and tough conference, the Torero volleyball squad is ready to take the road to the championships `til we see the end.
