LOS ANGELES, Calif. - The No. 61 University of San Diego women's tennis team (0-1) suffered a non-conference loss on the road to No. 5 UCLA (2-0) 4-0 Friday afternoon.

The Toreros lost the doubles point after losing at the No. 1 and 2 spots, but seniors Anna Depenau and Idil Haciraifoglu competed well against the Bruins' Dolehide/Van Nguyen, their match was stopped at 5-4.

The Toreros struggled in singles against a UCLA team that features four ranked players. Shani Blecher fell to No. 1 Robin Anderson 6-0, 6-0 at the No. 1, which was followed by a 6-1, 6-0 loss for Mikayla Morkel-Brink at the No. 5 to Catherine Harrison. No. 36 Kyle McPhillips clinched the win for the Bruins with a 6-0, 6-2 victory at the No. 4 over Colomba DiFilippo.

The remainder of the singles matches went unfinished.

The Toreros will return to action in Los Angeles where they play No. 38 UC Irvine, Saturday, January 25, at 6:00 p.m.
