Oct. 17, 2015 Final Stats | USD vs Drake
SAN DIEGO, Calif. -- Redshirt freshman quarterback Anthony Lawrence threw for over 300 yards, Jereke Armstrong recorded three touchdowns, and had 112 yards of total offense, while the Torero defense pitched its first shutout in over two years, as the University of San Diego football team cruised to a 27-0 win over Drake University Saturday afternoon in a Pioneer Football League game at Torero Stadium.
"I thought our defense played quite well, really consistent," stated head coach Dale Lindsey. "I also thought Anthony Lawrence was extremely on today, and I thought Brian Riley was extremely acrobatic with some of his catches, and Ross Dwelley was Mr. Consistent for us. Overall I was pleased with the total team effort today as well."
With the win, the Toreros improve to 4-2 overall, move to 3-1 in the PFL, and have extended their home PFL winning streak to 21 games. USD posted its first shutout since San Diego defeated Stetson 59-0, back on September 28, 2013. With the loss, the Bulldogs fall to 3-4 overall and 2-2 in the PFL.

Armstrong also had a career day, as he recorded two receptions for 78 yards, three total touchdowns, one rushing two receiving, and he rushed for 34 yards on nine carries. Defensively, Jonathan Petersen led the way, as he recorded seven tackles, and had 1.5 sacks for -10 yards.
As a team, USD out gained the Bulldogs 434 yards of offense to 274 yards. USD recorded 21 first downs, and held the Bulldogs rushing attack to just 61 yards on the ground, and only 14 first downs.
USD has won all three games against Drake under third-year head coach Dale Lindsey, in large part, by bogging down the Bulldogs offense.
For Drake, quarterback Andy Rice recorded 213 yards in the air on 24 of 43 passes, while being picked off once, and he was sacked six times by the Torero defense. The Toreros will return to action on Saturday, as they take a break from PFL play to host Warner University in a 6 p.m. game at Torero Stadium.
