Oct. 28, 2015 LOS ANGELES, Calif. - Representatives from Toreros' Men's and Women's Basketball made the trip to Los Angeles on Monday to take part in the West Coast Conference Media Day.
Jito Kok and Malina Hood accompanied Head Coaches Lamont Smith and Cindy Fisher. The Toreros met with other coaches and players as well as media members.
Kok, a Netherlands native, was one of three players to be part of a panel discussing how international players have made their way to the WCC. The 6'9" senior holds the career record for blocked shots at USD as well as blocks in a season and a game.
Hood is also heading in to her final year with the Toreros. Last year Hood was elected First Team All-WCC and is stepping into a larger leadership role in her senior year. She has set the record for three-point shots made in consecutive seasons, last year she made 77 shots from beyond the arc.
Coach Fisher will lead the Women's team for her 11th season. Under her direction, the Toreros have reached the NCAA tournament once and have won at least one game in the WNIT each of the last four years. The women's team starts their season on Nov. 13 at Nevada.
Coach Smith enters his first year at USD after being an assistant at University of New Mexico. He played at USD from 1994-99 and will make his coaching debut at USC on Nov. 13 when the Toreros open their season.
