March 16, 2015 SAN DIEGO, Calif. - The Toreros prevailed against both Gonzaga and UC San Diego in more early season racing on Mission Bay this past Friday.
The first varsity of Torrey Ray, John Bacic, Henri Hicks, Nick Watson, Will Bastien, Taylor Terheggen, Alex La Bruno, Brandon de Caussin, Patrick McPolin posted the first win of the morning, besting Gonzaga by 1.4 seconds and UCSD by 7.3 seconds.
The second varsity boat of Will Graf, Ryan Sandy, Hayden Town, Parker Brooks, Mike Mohrman, Parker Danz, Jack Pokalsky, Sam Stephens, Pierce Salamack claimed the next victory, besting Gonzaga by 2.4 seconds and UCSD by 14.2 seconds.
In the final match, USD's final boat of Kai Morse, Luke Uetrecht, Hayden Town, Parker Danz, Daniel Hearst, Konrad Altvater, Spencer Currey, Andrew Thomas, Nick Bea again claimed the first spot, besting Gonzaga by 5.4 seconds and UCSD by 7.4 seconds.
"All three of the squads are showing some great early season fitness, which is allowing us to race a bit more aggressively," stated head coach Brooks Dagman. "It has been a real pleasure watching the team gain confidence in the winter training that we have done."
The next contest for the Toreros is none other that the San Diego Crew Classic on March 28th and 29th.
