PORTLAND, Ore. -- The No. 18 University of San Diego men's tennis team (18-4, 7-0 WCC) continued their hot streak against conference play Friday afternoon at the Louisiana-Pacific Tennis Center. The Toreros stayed resilient against a solid Portland squad, snapping their undefeated streak at home and defeating the 64th-ranked Pilots (11-5, 4-2 WCC) 5-0. With the victory, the Toreros have yet to drop more than one point versus league play, while sweeping their conference foes for the third time this season.

The Toreros came back to their winning ways in doubles as junior Uros Petronijevic and senior Ciaran Fitzgerald knocked off Portland's Michail Pervolarkis and Kent Adreasen 6-3 at the No. 2 spot. The Toreros followed that up with a comfortable victory at the No. 1 spot. Junior Jordan Angus and sophomore Filip Vittek, who are ranked No. 34 nationally, defeated Pilots' Steffen Dierauf and Reid deLaubenfels 6-3 to clinch the point.

In singles play, the Toreros sustained an edge over the Pilots that would ride the entire match. Angus, who has won nine of his last 11 matches, got the Toreros on the board after a straight-set victory over Portland's Michail Pervolarkis 6-2, 6-4. No. 67-ranked Vittek extended the Toreros' lead to three, winning his fifth-straight match and defeating Pilots' Reid deLaubenfels 6-4, 3-6, 6-4.

Petronijevic, who posts a national ranking of No. 46, secured the victory for the Toreros narrowly ousting Pilots' Steffen Dierauf 7-6(8), 7-6(1). Junior Romain Kalaydjian managed to finish his match as well taking down Portland's Mathieu Garcia 7-6(4), 6-3.

"Playing at Portland is very difficult," assistant coach Matt Brooklyn expressed after the match. "They have had very good results at home and are very comfortable indoors. We came out focused and played good tennis at the start of all the matches, which was very important. Portland really took the match to us despite the final score. I'm very proud of the way we fought through adversity."

Half of the Toreros' roster is undefeated against conference competition in singles, while the remaining players have only dropped one match. The Toreros look to continue their dominating success against the Gonzaga Bulldogs this Saturday at 12:00 p.m. -- PT.
