SAN DIEGO, Calif. -- The No. 22 University of San Diego men's tennis team (21-4, 9-0 WCC) reached the semifinals of the West Coast Conference Championships Thursday afternoon at the Barnes Tennis Center. The Toreros cruised past the No. 9-seeded Gonzaga Bulldogs (11-11, 2-7 WCC) 4-0. With the victory, the defending champions currently ride a 13-match winning streak, while tallying their seventh sweep of the season.

Doubles resulted in familiar fashion for the Toreros as junior Romain Kalaydjian and sophomore Alexandros Araouzoskicked off the match on a high note. The pair grabbed the first set of the day defeating Zags' Sergio Chip and Joey Brandt 8-3. Although court two was leading as well, No. 45-ranked junior Jordan Angus and sophomore Filip Vittek clinched the point -- taking down the Bulldogs' Hayden Smith and Vladimir Mijatovic 8-4 at the No. 1 spot.

In singles play, Araouzos once again, jumpstarted the Toreros' momentum. The sophomore claimed a comfortable victory over Gonzaga's Connor Arend 6-1, 6-1. Araouzos continued to stay undefeated versus league opponents, while winning his fifthconsecutive singles match. Conference Player of the Year and 52nd-ranked Petronijevic soon followed, knocking off Zags' Alvaro Nazal 6-0, 6-4. The No. 1 singles player takes his seventh singles match in a row.

At 3-0, it was Angus that solidified the victory. The London native, who has won nine of his last 10 matches, defeated the Bulldogs' Hayden Smith 6-1, 7-5 at the No. 3 spot.

"We got off to a great start today," head coach Brett Masi expressed. "We started playing good tennis, especially Uros, Jordan, and Alex. The guys competed well and came out the gate with strong first sets. From there, we just put the pressure on them and took care of the match. It will be a tough match tomorrow versus Pacific. They have been playing well recently and have beaten some good teams. So, we have to go out and play well. The guys are ready for it though. We've been talking all week about focusing on good tennis and letting the results take care of themselves."

The Toreros get set for action in the semifinal round against the No. 4-seeded Pacific Tigers (10-16, 6-3 WCC). Earlier this season, the Toreros defeated the Tigers 6-1 at the Skip and Cindy Hogan Tennis Center. First serve is set for 1:00 p.m. -- PT at the Barnes Tennis Center.
